Vol. 1, No. 6 through Vol. 3. No. 3 / Jan. 22, 1944 through January 21, 1946

Running from the end of 1943 to January 21, 1946, GAR-WORDS was a local and regional news bulletin for the Borough’s servicemen. Topics included everything from births, weddings, and deaths to local elections and other current events. By 1944, publishers included photographs and were accepting advertising support. Published in Garwood, the bulletin provided local reporting to service men abroad, as well as printing updates and mailing addresses about Garwood servicemen. The first five issues are missing from our collection. It was published about twice a month. The final issue was from January 21, 1946.
